Justice, My Way - a Pilot
I write this in a way to express my angst against this society and the way we seem to be crumbling each day. India, the land of abundance, the land of dreams of many, a place known for its culture and hospitality, a country know for its resilience and its honour code, today stands as starkly exposed as a new born baby, in the eyes of the world. Every day is a new day, start afresh! This was something lifestyle gurus told me and I tried to look at it in a similar manner. Each day I tried to run along with the same optimism I wake up with, my country let me and my will down. People have given up and have made the statement - What can I do?, the status quo of their lives and I truly believe that this question is very valid. What can anyone do?? After all it is a mindset change that is required from the entire population and not just a few socially awakened people. But to create this awareness, we need to stir the conscience of the people and move the very core of the person. The need of the hour right now is to create an active people as against to reactive or resilient people.
What can 'I' do? - how many of us ask ourselves this question when there is need for action? We are all willing to come up with master plans, willing to micromanage to the last dot, what another person should do. We have become more and more adept at making schedules for others and we expect everyone to dance to the tunes we have set for the moment. But what if... I can only wonder if everyone was awake enough to contemplate about their contribution to the society, would we prosper or would we be going back by few centuries? Will we be a super economy or will we continue to remain the distant cousin to the West? Is a socially aware population derogatory to the gross development of this country or will it actually bring about a positive change to the way the world identifies India as a holistic economy? If I were to speak aloud amidst a crowd today, these thoughts of mine would make me sound like a mad person, one who is a true idealist in this self-proclaimed 'realist' society. I have been mocked for still upholding values and ideals that supposedly hold the country back, with apparent regressive connotations. It just makes me wonder, has education actually made me regressive, has global exposure managed to make me pro-values as opposed to being supportive of the farcical development that the country's media claims? Am I too old for the age that I live in? I am certain I am not alone in this confusion that I sit in today, because I am surrounded by people who have no idea how to react to the things they are subjected to, both voluntarily and involuntarily. Maybe I am not wrong in wanting change, in wanting justice a certain way for the things I perceive wrong, and mind you what I perceive wrong isn't completely subjective. I find things wrong that most people in this society wish to undo, but have no way of addressing because each of us is helpless. We rant amidst our little groups, get our hearts worked up and curse our tongues off and vent our anger on the people around us, and that's where it all stops. Most of us don't have a way to voice our angst in a way that it may actually make a difference.
I wished to give structure to my voice, give a body to my thoughts in a way that I may reach a few more people who are like minded and may spread the word, the need for justice and maybe bring about the small changes they wish to see in their lifetimes. After all, it was during the times of strife that the phrase - 'The Pen is mightier than the Sword' was coined, and what better to bring about change, than embracing the digital version of the pen.
